Pump starter installation

The voltage, energy rating, and overall construction of your water pump and its system all contribute to deciding the kind of pump starter you’ll need. We can help you gather all this important information, choose the best kind of unit for your domestic property, and fit it for you.

Repairs and replacements

Problems with internal motors and connections, electrical overload, and your starter simply not being compatible with your pump are all potential causes of issues with your pump starter. We’ll thoroughly investigate why your unit isn’t working correctly, perform any repairs we can on site, and acquire replacement parts or a new starter for you if needed.

Prompt, professional advice

Pump starters reduce the risk of short-circuits, overheating, and other electrical problems associated with your pump. If you’re unsure whether a pump starter is right for your home, or just need some further explanation of how yours works, our friendly, knowledgeable electricians are happy to take a look at your system and advise you accordingly.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
PUMP STARTERS - DOMESTIC ELECTRICAL SERVICES

What are pump starters used for?

Primarily, to protect your pump and other components from being damaged. Most have a “soft start” feature built-in, which helps to keep your pump motor in good shape for longer by reducing the initial electrical surge that occurs on start-up. They appear on both permanent and temporary pump systems.

How do they work?

This depends on what type of pump starter you have. Manual starters have a basic on/off button which controls a motor. This, in turn, is connected to a switch that completes or breaks an electrical circuit, allowing power to flow through (or stopping power supply to) the unit. Magnetic starters contain both a power circuit – similar to the ones in manual starters – and a control circuit, which manages the power flow via an electromagnetic coil.

Is it safe for me to run a system without a pump starter?

Yes – pump starters are, mostly, an extra level of security against faults and can help your pump operate more effectively. However, it is recommended that you get one, especially if your pump is dealing with high electrical loads.
