Replacing your hot water system

The hot water in many homes comes from a cylinder or tank designed for water storage and heating. Our contractors are familiar with most major brands available in Australia, like Solahart, Vulcan, and Dux; and, if your system can’t be repaired or no longer works for you, we’ll install a new one quickly and with the least possible inconvenience to you.

Upgrading your existing system

Want to swap your existing system for something more energy-efficient or powerful? We’ll assess your current setup and recommend the best choice for you in line with your wishes.

Repairing faults

Hot water stopped? Leaking tank? Something just not right with your system? We’ll fix whatever we can on site; and, if your system is likely to need new parts or more extensive repairs, we’ll provide you with a full quote as soon as possible.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOT WATER SYSTEMS - DOMESTIC ELECTRICAL SERVICES

What are the different types of hot water system?

The four main types of hot water system are defined by the type of fuel they use: electric, gas, solar, and the surrounding air/water/ground (used by heat pumps).

There are also systems that use tanks, and those that don’t. Your best bet is to enquire with one of our contractors, who can help you decide on the best option for you.

Is it better to use a system with hot water storage, or one without it?

Those with storage (usually in the form of a tank or cylinder) are the most common. The storage facility means you always have hot water available; and they’re generally cheaper than instantaneous (or tankless) systems. However, the latter are far more efficient and consume less energy, and are therefore more environmentally-friendly.

I can’t get any hot water. What could be causing this problem?

A lack of hot water could be due to a number of reasons, such as:

  • The heating element in your cylinder has failed. Sometimes they can overheat and burn out. Alternatively, the wire coil inside it could be broken.

  • A circuit breaker in your property has tripped. Check your house’s switchboard; and, if this is the case, move that switch to the “off” position, then back to “on”. Be careful of sparks!

  • There’s a problem with your boiler and/or thermostat. If your thermostat has lost communication with your boiler, this can prevent your water from heating properly, or at all. The same can happen if your boiler pressure is too high or low.

If you find you’re experiencing any of these issues, get in touch with our friendly team. We’ll be more than happy to schedule an appointment with one of our specialist electricians, and get your hot water flowing again.
